I’m a long-term Seattle resident with deep community roots and a love for our natural surroundings. I’m a lifelong learner with a masters in curriculum development and a doctorate in educational leadership.
I’ve lived, traveled, and taught both domestically and internationally (two years teaching English in Taipei, Taiwan), entwining formal, informal, traditional, and experienced-based learning models for adults and children.
A ‘Renaissance woman.’ I don’t believe there was such a thing - way back when - however, it’s certainly worth aspiring toward…
My teaching career started at the Children’s Museum in Seattle, WA. The highlight was directing a collaborative exhibit with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. This interactive exhibit of real events from the Holocaust was designed for middle school students and educators. The opportunity to coordinate with survivors, scholars, and historians was epic!
To offset the cost of graduate school, I worked for a residential landscaping business. During this stint I developed garden curriculum, took classes in plant identification, sat on the board of Seattle Youth Garden Works and the Hardy Fern Foundation.
I started my own consulting business in 1998 to improve the quality of arts instruction in Seattle Public Schools.Teaming up with education departments and professional Teaching Artists from local visual and performing arts organizations, we amplified youth voices, and standardized arts education.
I taught at the University level - Antioch University and UW Bothell - courses in curriculum design, education theory, and arts integration. My favorite part was advising graduate student thesis projects.
I earned intermediate wine certification through the International Sommelier Guild. I interned at Chateau Ste Michelle, and went on to hold the position of Assistant Winemaker at EFESTË winery.
I recently wrapped up a position as the Executive Director of The Children’s School, a nonprofit, independent preschool serving children and families with high quality early learning.
My goal is to knit my education and entrepreneurial experiences. Authenticity and integrity embody the spirit of everything I pursue.
